Shelton Learning Commons
The Dotti M. Shelton Learning Commons is more than just the home to thousands of books, it’s the heart of campus. It’s a place where students, faculty, and staff can study, learn, meet friends, create, and research.
Elevated from a library, a "learning commons" is designed to foster your creativity and explore new ways to learn. Looking to create your next masterpiece or finish off that final project? Visit the Makerspace, print and copy center, or front desk for equipment lending. When you need a little extra help, assistance is just one floor down where you’ll find the Burton Center for Student Success and Career and Life Planning.
Electronic Resources
The Shelton Learning Commons contains more than 70,000 books, periodical volumes, magazines, and academic journals. The building’s collection also includes more than 210,000 electronic books, more than 27,000 electronic journals, and thousands of streaming video and audio resources.
Classrooms
Chances are at some point in your time at 美高梅博彩, you'll have a class in the Shelton Learning Commons. There are a variety of classroom spaces that serve a multitude of academic programs. The spaces are also often used for events through the Office of Student Affairs as well as club and organization meetings.
Study Spaces
Whether you need some quiet time to study on your own, or a space to collaborate with your peers, options are available to suit your needs including individual computer desks, open area group tables, and private rooms.
Makerspace
The makerspace—with a focus on Appalachian craft—is designed specifically for creation and equipped with the tools you need to make it happen. You’ll find sewing machines, drop spindles, weaving looms, knitting needles, and crochet hooks in addition to technology such as a 3D printer, Spheros, Raspberry Pis, and a podcasting and vlogging studio.
Center
Need to print some notes or a paper before class? The print and copy center has you covered with options to print in black and white or color by scanning your 美高梅博彩 ID card. Additional tools available for use include paper cutters, hole punches, staplers, and more. Check out the services page for detailed instructions on how to print.
Nourish your body and feed your mind at the Genuine Grab and Go on the first floor, featuring a selection of drinks and ready-made snacks and meals. Students may use their declining balance dollars for purchases.
